Could Connecticut become the state most wired for Verizon’s 4G LTE network? In addition to plans to expand LTE to 145 total nationwide markets, the carrier recently announced plans to deliver LTE services to 40 Connecticut cities before the end of 2011.

Verizon did not mention new markets beyond Connecticut, but the list of fortunate New England burgs include Bridgeport, Fairfield, Greenwich, Hartford, Middlebury,  New Haven, Stamford, Westport and many more (see a full list below).  Each area will have access to a fast data network that, according to Verizon, offers data download speeds of 5 to 12 megabits per second and uploads of 2 to 5 Mbps on “fully-loaded network environments”.

The carrier may be playing modest. During our review of the recently announced HTC Thunderbolt smart phone we notched LTE downloads as fast as 17 Mbps. The average LTE download speed was 8 Mbps, and the slowest speed we encountered was 3.9 Mbps.

Connecticut residents will be able to take advantage of  those wowing connection speeds via broadband modems such as the LG VL600 and Pantech UML290, too. Anyone calling the Constitution State home excited for this LTE blanket? Check to see if your city is on the list below.
